Aire Park, Leeds

Situated on the site of the former Tetley Brewery and ASDA Merchandising Centre of Excellence in central Leeds, the Aire Park development scheme comprises multi-storey, mixed-use commercial and residential buildings and a brand-new urban park centred around the historic Tetley Building.  

To date, four distinct phases of enabling works have been completed by Rhodar at the site, facilitating the construction of the first two mixed use buildings, extensive areas of public realm open space and regeneration of the Tetley Building.

Our works have comprised decommissioning of a redundant petrol filling station on Meadow Lane, demolition of the former five storey Carlsberg office building on Crown Point Road and extensive bulk earthworks, ground engineering and piling platform construction across the remainder of the development site.

Working in partnership with our client, Vastint UK, the enabling works were designed to address legacy land-use constraints and de-risk the site prior to construction. Part of the site was noted to be of significant historical importance and the early phases of enabling works were subject to oversight by the West Yorkshire Archaeological Society (WYAS). Rhodar worked closely with the archaeological team to help investigate a buried street, formerly known as Hunslet Road, including the long abandoned cellar of the Scarborough Castle Inn.
