Manchester Royal Infirmary
Rhodar was appointed in February 2022 to undertake fire stopping works within the basement of Corbett House at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The works were carried out over a 6-week programme with the building remaining live throughout.
Rhodar was instructed to identify the breaches within the basement. This was undertaken by a full comprehensive survey, with drawings received by the NHS Trust, which were not fire compartment drawings. Upon completion, we issued the survey to the Trust who instructed a fire engineer to divide the drawing into a fire compartment drawing.
Following this, Rhodar completed the fire stopping within the basement as per the new drawing. The works included compartmentations, ceiling voids, risers, cable runs and all penetrations through the walls. Rockwool products were installed to the manufacturer’s guidelines and all works were signed off by Rhodar’s FIRAS-accredited Site Manager.
Rhodar appointed a dedicated site team to this project which included a Contract Manager, Site Manager and two asbestos and fire stopping-trained operatives. To ensure the programme was met, the team worked during normal working hours and out of hours.
