Darlington Memorial Hospital

Appointed by the Estates/Projects Team to undertake a survey of all compartment walls to then reinstate all passive fire service penetrations and breaches to ensure full ongoing compliance.

Completed fire stopping on compartment walls

The works were carried out in a single ward that was being fully refurbished over a period of four weeks to fit within the main contractor’s programme.

Corridor walls within ward showing compartment lines

Our scope included all breaches within the ceiling voids, mechanical and electrical risers, along with other hazardous or high-risk areas.

Access hatch cut into existing ceiling to expose and fire stop breaches

The building remained fully operational throughout the project – our team working within sensitive areas, to time restraints and adjacent to staff and patients.

Ceiling tiles removed to access ceiling void to expose and fire stop breaches

The works were delivered on time and within budget and led to additional works within other key areas of the hospital, including A&E, the mortuary and other live wards.
