Wigan Galleries
Rhodar was appointed as demolition (& associated works) contractor for the high-profile £135m Galleries redevelopment, in Wigan.
Our works encompass a six-phase, 18-month programme of soft strip, full demolition and the creation of a development platform, across the 41,000m² site footprint.
The scheme is part of an ambitious strategic regeneration programme being planned by the Council and Cityheart Limited, to reinvigorate central Wigan and provide a vibrant new retail, leisure, commercial and residential destination.
Co-ordinating closely with construction contractor BCEGI (UK) Ltd, Rhodar’s works enable a programme of progressive rebuild work, as we continue to complete other phases of our demolition activities across the site, which incorporate a mix of both mechanical and hand-demolition techniques.
We have engaged with the local community, working with charities, youth and church groups throughout the project; and have also welcomed two of our youngest employees on site through our demolition apprenticeship scheme.
