Rank Hovis
Rhodar completed the £4.3m Rank Hovis demolition project, as part of the significant Silvertown Quays development.
The Rank Hovis Premier Mill was centrally located in the heart of London’s Docklands, and stood opposite London ExCel, and directly adjacent to the Royal Victoria Dock.
The 52-week project consisted of structural demolition activities, including the design & installation of a 70m pontoon to facilitate the construction of a 30m high cantilever scaffold system to protect the prestigious Royal Victoria Dock.
The building required full-scale technical demolition, along with asbestos removal works. Part of this intricate project also involved the salvage and retention of numerous historical mill artifacts along with a high degree of recycling & materials re-use.
The scheme at Silvertown will produce around 6,500 new homes, along with new arts and leisure facilities, cafes, restaurants and bars.
