Network Rail was looking to replace the central advertising boards above the platform ticket turnstiles with digital screens at Waterloo Railway Station. Asbestos contamination was identified so Rhodar created a unique solution to facilitate removal. This incorporated a floating scaffold system, bespoke decontamination facilities and working between the hours of 1am and 4am to avoid disruption to the daily 400,000 footfall and ensure both staff and the public were protected.

This very successful project, managed by Craig Robson, Rhodar Regional Manager was nominated in the ‘UK Rail Industry Awards’ – Outstanding projects category.

Network Rail commented on the project: ‘’Rhodar presented an innovative solution, and provided proactive advice to remove asbestos from a prime location within the station, with no risk to staff or the general public. Their commitment to quality, and their understanding of the importance of a cohesive design, made them a great partner in meeting the functional and aesthetic goals of the project. Rhodar’s services as a removal contractor were well received, and we were very pleased with the final result ’’.
