Rhodar Charity Review: 2024

Rhodar Charity Review: 2024

Posted on in Company News

Our 2024 Conference, last week, highlighted a variety of exciting updates across the business… one important aspect being to review our monumental Social Value efforts over the last 12 months.

We’ve been involved in so many incredible initiatives throughout the year - it was great to be able to look back on 2024 and recognise the efforts made by our teams to support a variety of charities and organisations across the country.

So, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight a selection of the campaigns presented at the event:

First, we detailed that our partnership with WellChild drew to a very successful close at the end of 2023, after 8 years of fundraising efforts for this amazing charity. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on a range of Garden Renovation Projects and Outdoor Venture Challenges alongside WellChild – all in support of the fantastic work they do to help sick children and their families across the country.

We’re thrilled to announce that Rhodar has raised over £55,000 for WellChild over the last few years and delivered four ambitious garden projects – an incredible feat!

We then went on to reveal our new main charity for 2025: Martin House Children’s Hospice (based in Boston Spa, Wetherby), welcoming Chris Verney, who joined us on the day to tell us all more about the charity and how our support will benefit the organisation through the year, as they continue to provide incredible support for families day in, day out.

A small group from Rhodar also recently volunteered at the charity’s third annual Glow Together walk, in Boston Spa, acting as ‘Night Guides’ for the event - thank you to all our volunteers for your help!

We were also pleased to reveal that our main Charity Challenge for next year will be the iconic…(and somewhat arduous!) Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, being held in September. Up to 50 participants will have the chance to brave the 24-mile trek, all to raise vital funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice.

Next on the agenda was to highlight that 2025 will prove to be a bumper year for charitable activities, as we are once again hosting our ‘Charity-6’ initiative.

Following the success of our original campaign in 2022, we wanted to again provide our staff the opportunity to produce six bespoke campaigns for organisations of their choice over the course of the year.

Our staff nominated 17 charities in total, which were reviewed and narrowed down to a shortlist of 10 by our external judging panel ahead of the Conference, and on the day, staff were invited to select the final 6 that will receive the company’s support throughout 2025.

The final six charities to benefit from a range of bespoke campaigns are: Archie’s CaravanLeeds South & East FoodbankCash for Kids (Cumbria), Homeless Street AngelsZoe’s Place and Willowbrook Hospice.

The judges were so impressed by the heartfelt nominations, and the passion that each nominee displayed for their respective charities, that the company has decided to make an additional donation each to the charities that were not selected for Charity-6

So, we’re certainly looking forward to yet another year, packed with fun challenges and epic fundraising efforts, all in support of a great roster of wonderful charities!
